TFI FX Asian Market Update 03/09/10

News and Events

The Euro and other high yielding currencies such as the Aussie dollar held their gains versus the US dollar on Friday after Thursday’s improvement in unemployment claims and much better than expected pending home sales boosted investors’ risk appetite. However the Swiss franc and the Yen, which typically fall when risk increases, also managed to retain the gains. Usd/jpy is still not very far away from the 15 year low reached in the previous days. Traders are cautious about buying more Yen because there is always the concern about a BOJ intervention in the forex market; but this could easily change with a weak NFP data later in the afternoon.

The pair has reached the 50% retracement of the last downtrend. Any approach there would be considered a selling opportunity with a tight stop
