TFI FX Asian Market Update 01/09/10

News and Events

The yen and the US dollar retreated in the Asian session after a better than expected Australian GDP number and an improvement in the Chinese manufacturing PMI. Usd/jpy rose from 83.75 to trade as high as 84.50 after risk appetite picked up; Nikkei225 gaining 0.55% . The Australian dollar rose close to 1% on the day after the GDP release as it is evident that the Australian economy is still going strong. Sterling also gained as it rose from 1.5330 to 1.5365. Traders are now focused on the German retail sales, the US ADP employment report and the US ISM Manufacturing PMI for more clues about the global economy.
